Breathing Space
A partnership with Dance Art Foundation

I am an associate artist of Dance Art Foundation, a London based performance company. The company has specialist interest and expertise in working with children with profound and multiple learning disabilities in hospices and special schools though their Breathing Space programme.

I work 1-1 with children using a sensory child centre approach.  Props from soft scarves to clay or percussion instruments help open up the child’s sensory world. Playfulness and listening guide how we might move.  As in all my work, there is no right or wrong and every movement, how big or small is equally valuable and intriguing.

In 2019, I worked with Dance Art Foundation on a new project at Cumberland Infirmary delivering sessions on the Special Care Baby Unit working with a musician.  Music was played for the babies and their parents and playful creative movement with the new-borns siblings to help distract them from the often anxious making hospital environment.
